Gurkel Kalesi
Bölgedeki en önemli savunma yapılarından biri olup dağlık ve stratejik bir noktada inşa edilmiştir. Kale, sarp kayalıkların üzerine kurulmuştur. Bu konumuyla hem saldırılara karşı korunaklıdır hem de çevreye hâkim bir gözetleme noktası işlevi görmüştür. Mimari yapısı itibarıyla klasik Orta Çağ kalesi özelliği taşır. Sur kalıntıları ve iç bölümlere ait izler hâlen görülebilmektedir. Bölge halkı arasında kale ile ilgili efsaneler ve rivayetler anlatılmaktadır.
Mekân, taşıdığı tarihi değer açısından bütüncül öğrenmeyi destekleme ve özellikle de ortaokul düzeyindeki öğrenciler için somut öğrenme yaşantısı sunma potansiyeline sahiptir.

Ziyaret Notları
Uludere–Hilal yolu üzerinden belli bir noktadan sonra yaya olarak çıkılmaktadır. Bu nedenle gezi ekibinde yer alanların rahat yürüyüş ayakkabıları tercih etmeleri önerilmektedir. Mekânın yakınlarında yiyecek ve içecek temin edilemeyeceğinden gezi ekibinin yanlarında yiyecek ve içecek bulundurmaları önerilmektedir. Engebeli bir arazi üzerinde konumlanan kaleye ulaşım yaya olarak gerçekleştirildiğinden, gezinin küçük ekipler şeklinde organize edilmesi önerilmektedir. Mekânda engebeli araziler bulunduğundan gezi ekibinin ilk yardım çantasını yanlarında bulundurmaları önerilmektedir. Ziyaretlerin planlanmasında yol ve hava koşulları dikkate alınmalıdır.
